We try to keep our helmets fresh and clean!
We know how frustrating it is to rent a scooter and be handed a stinky helmet! So we try our best to keep our helmets fresh and clean.
Once a month, every single helmet in our fleet gets pulled from the shelves and sent through our 4-Stage Sanitization Station.
The Cleaning Process!
Step 1 - UV-C Exposure
Every helmet begins its treatment under ultraviolet light. This breaks down the genetic material of microorganisms on contact, making it especially useful against the damp, locker-room smell that builds up in helmets worn in hot, humid conditions.
Step 2 - Ozone Treatment
The helmets are then placed inside a sealed chamber filled with ozone gas. Because ozone works its way into the deeper layers of the padding - areas a cloth simply can't reach - it finishes off any microbes the UV stage missed and dissolves the toughest lingering smells.
Step 3 - Sanitizing Mist
A gentle, non-toxic mist is applied across every surface, seam, and vent opening. It's formulated to be kind to skin while still being effective against bacteria and other germs.
Step 4 - Warm Air Drying
The final stage circulates warm, dry air throughout each helmet. Drying thoroughly matters just as much as sanitizing: with no leftover moisture, bacteria and mold have nothing to grow on.
We also clean our helmets after every use!
Whenever a helmet comes back from a rental, it gets a quick hit from our Koby Disinfectant Foam Spray. We spray foam on the inside padding and shell - all the spots that touch your head - and let it do its thing. The foam breaks down sweat, oils, and grime while knocking out bacteria, so the helmet's genuinely clean, not just wiped over.
It's a fast step, but it means every helmet is clean, fresh and smelling wonderful before the next person grabs it.
Our customers have noticed that our helmets are in great condition and clean too!
