The Honda Click 160 has a smart key system that makes operating the bike easier and helps protect against theft. On this page, we go over some basic operating procedures, as well as a few troubleshooting steps in case the key is not working as expected.
This video will demonstrate the starting procedure and a few troubleshooting tips for the Honda Click 160!
First, let's look at the ignition switch area. There are four positions: On, Seat, Off, and Lock.
If your smart key is close to the bike, you will be able to move the switch to these positions.
The ON position turns the bike on. The headlights, dashboard display, and all electronics will turn on and stay on while the switch is in this position. This is important to understand because even if you walk away from the bike and the key is no longer nearby, the bike will stay on. This will quickly drain the battery. It only takes about 10 minutes for the battery to die! Always make sure the switch is in the Off or Lock position before walking away.
The SEAT position gives you access to the seat release button, which is located next to the switch.
The OFF position turns the bike completely off and preserves the battery.
The LOCK position locks the handlebars. You should always lock the handlebars to help prevent theft.
If the switch is stuck and won't let you turn on the bike, it usually means the smart key has lost connection to the bike. Don't worry, it is very easy to fix and reconnect. We have made a video showing you what to do if this happens.
If the smart key is connected to the bike, it will show a green light when you press the key button (the bottom button). If the light shows red, it means the key has become disconnected from the bike and needs to be reconnected.
To reconnect the key to the bike, stand near the bike and hold the key button for a few seconds. The red light should change to green, indicating that it is now reconnected and ready to use.
