renting a scooter in Santitam

With decades of riding experience in Chiang Mai, our team at Scooter Hub knows Santitham well. There is no public transport here, so a scooter is the best way to get around. Whether you are eating at Khao Soi Mae Sai, heading to Thanin Market, or riding into the Old City, having your own bike makes everything easier. We deliver to any hotel, condo, or guesthouse in Santitham. No need to come to us. Just book, and we bring a fully serviced Honda Click 160 straight to your door.

the honda click 160

Our team have been riding scooters and motorcycles in and around Chiang Mai for years and years. We all think that the Honda Click 160 is the best bike to rent here. It's small and agile making it a great choice for the small city backstreets but also a wonderful bike to take into the mountains or the Samoeng Loop.

We asked local thai riders, expats and our customers which bike is the best and they all agree with us - the Honda Click 160!

our customers also ask us ...

Do I need a passport to rent a scooter in Chiang Mai?
Thai law prevents businesses from keeping your actual passport as a deposit. We never hold your passport. A photocopy is fine.

How do I rent a scooter?
Reach out to us by phone at 0653480108 or message us on WhatsApp, WeChat, Facebook, or Line.

Can I take the bike to other provinces? Can I ride the Mae Hong Son Loop or ride to Chiang Rai?
We prefer our scooters stay near Chiang Mai so we can assist quickly if something goes wrong. That means keeping within roughly 30km of the city. You can still enjoy great local rides like the Samoeng Loop or explore Doi Suthep, but longer journeys like the Mae Hong Son Loop or a trip to Chiang Rai are not allowed.

What happens if I scratch or damage the bike?
Small scratches are no problem. They happen to everyone riding around Chiang Mai. All our bikes include free scratch insurance. We ride here ourselves and know that nicks and scuffs are just part of city riding. For serious crashes or major damage, we have a transparent repair policy you can read about separately.
Read more about what happens if a bike is crashed or seriously damaged and how we do our best to be transparent with our repair costs.

Do the bikes come with helmets?
Yes, every bike rental includes helmets.

How much is the deposit?
We take a 2000 baht deposit when you rent a bike. You get the full amount back at the end of your rental.

Should I rent a scooter in Chiang Mai?
Chiang Mai has no trains, trams, or buses. With public transport essentially nonexistent, a scooter is your cheapest and fastest option. It beats driving a car or waiting for taxis by a long shot. We have sat through countless traffic jams on Nimman Road and inside the Old City wishing we were on two wheels instead of stuck in a car. Scooting around here is also genuinely fun. Without question, we would pick a scooter over a car every time. Read more about why renting a scooter is essential in Chiang Mai.

What is the best scooter to rent in Chiang Mai?
After riding around Chiang Mai for decades on all sorts of bikes, we believe the Honda Click 160cc is the best choice. It has more power than smaller 110cc or 125cc models but remains small and nimble. That combination is perfect for slipping through heavy traffic on Santitam Road or navigating the crowded Old City. It also handles beautifully on mountain rides like the trip up to Mon Jam in Samoeng.

Do I need a driving license to ride in Chiang Mai?
Legally, you need a valid International Driving Permit or a Thai Driving License to ride in Thailand. But what you probably really want to know is what happens if you ride without one. Riding without a proper license is very common here, especially in tourist areas.
